Fireworks with a View

If you are feeling a bit more diva this 4th of July, and finding that standing amongst a sweaty crowd to watch fireworks is not working for you, then allow me to offer some alternatives. I mean heels and grassy areas simply do not work, and wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a view from up on high – in heels and with a cool icy beverage in hand?  Here are some places to view fireworks in style!

St. Louis: In my area of the world we have our Fair St. Louis, which just moved from the Arch grounds over to Forest Park.  The place to be will be Three Sixty at the Hilton St. Louis Ballpark. It’s a pricey $250 for 2 to sit on the east edge, but you can also show up and try to grab a $10 spot at 8pm. Or just book at room with view for about $269.

Miami: America’s Birthday Bash at Bayfront Park can be seen from the InterContinental Miami, open to the public for July 4th, note that the poolside bar will close at 7pm. Or you can head over to Mondrian South Beach where non-guests are invited to the Friday night DJ party. Arrive several hours ahead of time!

New Orleans: The annual Go 4th on the River fireworks display can be viewed from The Westin New Orleans Canal Place. Guests and non-guests are invited to watch from the 11th-floor lobby or while dining at the Green Bar.  Guests are invited to hang out on the rooftop for an awesome view.

Nashville: This musical city’s firework display can be viewed by guests of Omni Nashville’s rooftop pool and lounge, rooms start at $279 a night.  Or from the Bridge Bar and Lounge at the Renaissance Nashville, with rooms starting at $237 a night.

Chicago: Navy Pier will light up on the 4th, guests and non-guests can hang out at the Dec Rooftop Lounge and Bar at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago. Book a room starting at $295 a night.

Washington DC: Fireworks on the National Mall can be seen from the P.O.V. Roof Terrace at W Washington DC; arrive really early in order to get a good seat, or book a room starting at $369 a night.  Also consider the Doubletree by Hilton Washington DC.  For only $10 you can gain entrance into the Skydome Lounge or get a room starting at $129.

New York: From the Sky Room at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Times Square, you can catch the Macy’s Fireworks Show and the Empire State Building’s light show.  The cost is $100 per person, and includes an open bar, barbecue dinner and live DJs. Or you can head over to the Sky Terrace at the Hudson Hotel and spend $40 per person for their fireworks viewing party, one hour open bar and DJs.

Boston: Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular can be viewed from the rooftop pool bar at The Colonnade Hotel. You’ll need to be a guest and book a room starting at about $277 a night.

Wherever your Independence Day firework viewings take you, may you be safe, may the mosquitos leave you alone and may you stay cool and sweat-free!
