According to the Urban Dictionary, “Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20’s and 30’s that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.” Yes, they are the cool kids of today.
So where do these hipsters hang when it comes to hotels? My guess is that these fit the hipster hotels bill.
Hotel Saint Cecilia: Located in the hipster haven of Austin, Texas, this hotel is a mixture of southern charm and a little bit rock n’ roll. This place is so hip that they even offers their own line of gifts; since sometimes you just need to let people know how truly cool you are. The rooms are very unique, and they even offer awesome poolside bungalows.
The Ace: Located in another hipster city, The Ace in Portland has everything a hipster could ever want. They have bikes to rent (described as beautiful handmade bikes), bars and coffee close by (of course, they serve French press coffee in their breakfast room). Food, you bet it’s locally sourced. And since hipsters love their dogs, you can absolutely bring Fido (or actually Boyce) along with you.
The Line: In LA, a city that has everything, hipsters too must be included. This hotel sports modern interiors by Sean Knibb, food and bev by Roy Choi, a lounge by The Houston Brothers and a Lifestlyle Boutique featuring Poketo. If you clicked on these links, consider yourself hipster-ized.
Thunderbird: This space is found in Marfa, Texas. It includes locally-designed custom furnishings, an international art collection, hand-crafted textiles, a vinyl library (so hip) and vintage typewriters (so so hip). Rooms are understated, but also tip the hip scales.
Longman & Eagle: This hotel in Chicago has been described as a well-provisioned flophouse. Choose a room, have a “painstakingly researched” cocktail, and eat some very fabulous food. They too have hipster lifestyle wear for sale.
Even top hotel chains have created hipster-centric brands including Hyatt Centric, AC Hotels by Marriott, Virgin Hotels in Chicago, Tribute Portfolio by Starwood, Canopy by Hilton, Radisson Red and Tryp by Wyndham.
Whether you’re a true hipster or you just want to spend some time with the free thinking bohemian types, check in to a hipster hotel today.
