Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. ~ Helen Keller
My daughter-in-law’s company is sponsoring an upcoming event and when she shared it with me I knew I had to be involved. The HOPE 5K provides “consistent support for the Village de Vie orphan village, an orphanage which HOPE established in the aftermath of the earthquake.” Their first 5K was held last year, the money raised made it possible to deliver fresh, clean water to the children of the village. This year the money raised will be used to build a school, which will not only benefit the orphans, but also serve to educate the children in the community at large.
The organization is expecting an even bigger turn out than the previous year, which attracted over 300 runners. This year’s registrants are already pointing toward attracting more runners, more publicity and more money for the orphans in Haiti.
The suggested donation is only $25 per participant; this will serve as your entry fee into the race, and you will also receive a t-shirt, free smoothies, pastries, bagels, massages, and more from the various sponsors of the event! As well, they are planning a night at One 19 North in Kirkwood, Missouri, and those that participate will win an invite to the exclusive event.
I am one of the sponsors and I would love to see you there! Please sign up today! Make sure to stop by and say hello; I will be at the HelmsBriscoe booth. If you cannot make the event, then please do send in a donation; every little bit will help to bring them one step closer to building the school.
Thank you! Espw Pou Ofelen Ayiti! (Hope for Haiti’s Orphans!)
