Your Meeting Matchmaker Fairy Godmother

Let’s Talk TED!

in: Meeting Planning Experience

facebook-iconHey meeting planners, are you a TED-head?  I am! TED Talks present ideas worth spreading about Technology, Entertainment and Design. And I have an announcement to make – Moi (that’s French talk for “me”), has been asked to be the lead meeting planner (aka Details Diva, this is my official title) for a locally planned event called TEDxArch!

If you have yet to venture into the world of TED, then let me be the first to invite you to do so!  The TED site offers hundreds of presentations, from brilliant people from around the globe, and on every subject you can possibly imagine, not to mention quite a few subjects you didn’t even know existed. As a meeting planner, you are sure to come across inspiring people to consider as speakers for your next event!  To get started, check out Hubspot’s suggestions for 15 Phenomenal TED Talks.

As I mentioned, our group is called TEDxArch. We are already lining up some amazing speakers!  Bill Donius, author of Thought Revolution: How to Unlock Your Inner Genius is on board to speak.  We also have Mary Ostafi, a sustainability specialist, who will share with us her amazing rooftop farm.  Jimmy Linn is (put your smart hats on for this one) is a “geneticist and founder of the Rare Genomics Institute, an organization that allows patients to crowdsource funds and genomes to accelerate research of their rare genetic diseases.” Wow!

The day will include plenty of entertainment. We are proud to feature Pokey LaFarge, who is a musician and songwriter that focuses on the American roots genre.  Check out his David Letterman appearance here. He also has a song featured in the Lone Ranger movie!

It has been an interesting go so far. This is our first one; we are busy laying the foundation, gathering volunteers, making new connections, and organizing a bit of chaos. Of course, I am sure are presently laughing and thinking, “Chaos, during meeting planning, no way!”  I know, right.

For those of you who wish to attend, be sure to keep an eye out on our Facebook page for updates as we add more speakers and entertainers to the mix. We will be holding our event on January 11, 2014 at The Sheldon. I would love to see you there!

Oh, and BTW, Nelly may come as my special guest. We’ll talk ; )
