Travel Apps

For those of us who have been in the meeting planning business for a few decades, we often find ourselves talking about the good ole days of travel. The days when travel felt like a treat! It was a fun and stress-less adventure with accommodating airlines and happy passengers. Yes, much has changed. But maybe, just perhaps, these apps and websites can bring the delight of travel back – especially necessary for vacation travel!

Wingz: Wouldn’t it be nice to show up at the airport and be greeted by a friendly face, waiting there to take you to your next destination? The brilliance of this is app is that it allows users to book the ride ahead of time, not while standing at the curb. Wingz drivers are rigorously background checked, plus their vehicles are no more than 5 years old and have passed a 19-point inspection. I say, pick me up!

ItsEasy: Need a passport, like right now? Go to ItsEasy and a passport can be had in as little as 6 hours – whoa! ItsEasy is a US Government registered passport and visa expediting company. Don’t let this gem pass you by.

HotelTonight: Miss a connection, last minute travel whim, over booked hotel? Hotel rooms that have not been booked well in advance usually mean premium prices to be paid. This is not the case with HotelTonight, which promises to find a great hotel at an amazing deal and it can be booked via a mobile device, and right away!

PlayBill Passport: For destination Broadway, this app engages audiences before, during intermission and after the show. By scanning the Playbill cover, audiences are treated to premium content that reveals available experiences from both inside and outside the theatre.

Booking.com: No matter your tastes in accommodations, Booking can help. The site promises new deals each day and for every budget. Properties include hotels and vacation rentals worldwide. Plus, changes can be made at any time and customer service is available all day, every day.

Timebox: This app allows users to easily create a photo journal, complete with pictures and words which can later be stitched together to create slideshows. Take it a step further to create printed gifts and ebooks.

Whym: Be spontaneous with Whym. This app is perfect for meeting planners who feel like the last thing they want to do is plan out every minute of their own vacation – it starts to feel too much like work. Whym shares last minute offers on tickets, tours and attractions for where ever you may be.

Take back travel and put the fun back in your vacation, Meeting Planner!
