Time for the Large Popcorn Combo

in: Fun

We are into our summer months . . . and many of us are looking to get out of the heat. As much as we love spending time outdoors, sometimes it is simply not comfy and we need to be where there is A/C, popcorn, overly large sodas and MOVIES! That’s right, summer movie blockbusters are in full swing, which will you go see?

Superheroes of Summer: We just love our superheroes – those angst ridden individuals that turned their pain into fighting for justice while wearing outlandish outfits and looking awesome in action. If superheroes have your heart, be sure to check out Avengers Infinity War, Deadpool 2 and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Going Solo: Yay, more Star Wars! Be sure to check out Solo: A Star Wars Story. Enjoy this fun romp through the universe with one of pop culture’s most lovable, though somewhat cranky, characters along with his big furry sidekick, Chewy. For fun, check out the original Solo surprising the new guy.

Girls Gone Ocean’s: If you liked the guy version, be sure to check out the gal’s version, Ocean’s 8. Take some of Hollywood’s top entertainers – Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter – mix it with a cool con story and BOOM!

Mean Genes: She’s got her mother’s eyes, her father’s nose, and well, a few other family inheritances that are full out terrifying. The trailer alone gave me goosebumps. If you’re up for a scare go see Hereditary.

Summertime Sequels: Jeff Goldblum graces the screen once again as the annoying, yet spot on, Ian Malcolm in another bigger than life Jurassic Park flick, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro are back in combat with drug cartels in Sicario 2: Soldado. Tom Cruise keeps up appearances in another action-packed impossible mission, Mission: Impossible – Fallout. And FINALLY, we get to catch up with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible and kids in Incredibles 2.

Sorry Not Sorry: This movie promises to be original, outrageous and one of the best comedies to see this year. In Sorry to Bother You there are parts that may bother you, parts that may make you laugh, parts that may confuse you – but this movie may just be the most refreshing film you’ve seen in a while.

Relationships are Complicated: Especially if you learn the truth about that boyfriend of yours. In one movie, the girlfriend finds out that her boyfriend is a spy, The Spy Who Dumped Me. In another, the girlfriend goes on a trip to Singapore with her significant other and learns that he is a member of an uber-wealthy family, Crazy Rich Asians. Surprise!

Leave Me a Clone: Is it a good idea to clone your family? Wil defying the laws of nature make for a happy home? Find out in this sci-fi thriller with Keanu Reaves, Replicas.

Coming of Age Now: What’s it like to be an eighth grader these days? There’s social media and the challenges of the day, but also the awkwardness and weirdness we all remember. This feels like a movie we can all relate to . . . and fall in love with. Check out Eighth Grade.

Which of these films will have you cooling off with a $4 box of Skittles at your favorite movie theater? Please post your top one, two, three (as many as you want) on my Facebook page!
